A Self-help Poem

PAD Challenge; day 13

For today’s prompt, write a self-help poem. It can be written in the style of a self-help article or book. Or you can take it in a more subtle self-help direction.

If I help myself to the colors of love
and touch with awed reverence the gift of new day
If I pause to ponder the wonder of God
Spilling from heaven to thrill this meek clay...

If I stop to savor the air that I breathe
and drink from The Fountain we simply call grace
If I bear with honor the cross I receive

...if I stoop to study the art of God's word
Forming the flower and filling the air
as over and over, each season is stirred
and over and over we gobble its fare

If I kiss the tender-warm face of a child
to touch the reminder that hope is not dead
If I slowly turn to see art dripping wild
From The Artist's paintbrush somewhere overhead

If I help myself to the whispers of Love
Not disregarding the things that I see
But knowing it spills from God's palettes above
Then I am a humbler and more thankful me

 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor hath taught him? Isa. 40:12-13

...to whom then will we liken God? Isa.40:18

“To whom will you compare me?
    Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
    Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
    and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
    not one of them is missing.

 Why do you complain, Jacob?
    Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
    my cause is disregarded by my God”?
 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.  Isa. 40: 25-31
