Living Love-song

Three lively youngsters are arriving shortly so their mom and dad
can have a little reprieve to celebrate 10 years of marriage.
Plans for a weekend getaway, due to life's unexpected curves,
were altered to a day-getaway!

p-s-s-st!! Due to cool, rainy weather I see another intense
memory-game on the horizon ...

..with two little players who
have no qualms about sneaking a peek if necessary😂💕

Here is a little hymn/prayer to the Keeper of our days,
who, through all of life's ups and downs
reminds us over and over 'Fear not'.

To the Keeper of our days may we live/lift a hymn of praise
May our meditations be pleasing, oh God, unto Thee
May our labors great and small magnify Thee, Lord of all
Thou who dost behold the heart of we who see, but in part
Guard our thought and guide our feet until face to face, we meet
Until dust reclaims it due and trust beholds all things new
May our utter longing be to live a love-song for Thee

For This Roller-coaster of Experience and Emotion...

What a roller-coaster weekend this was...
funeral, wedding, wonderful worship service, family thanksgiving dinner/ celebrations
where hearts grief-tender sought and found comfort
in the unfailing kindness of fellow believers and God's Word.

The verse below was shared yesterday morning at our worship service
by a mother whose daughter donated one of her kidneys to a little boy this week.
Ron Seabrooke (whose funeral was on Saturday) was also a dear friend of their family...

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--
how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
Romans 8:32

...and then this verse by our dear brother Richard Haverkamp
who reminded us we did not lose 'our pastor'!
We lost 'one of our dear pastors'.
We thankfully have a team who will by God's direction and grace carry on!

Someone shared this verse of comfort and exhortation;
 Heb.13:7-8
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you.
Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

What glorious reminders to give thanks in spite of all we do not understand.

Yes, you know how it is…the ups and downs of love and life
Can lead us into temptation to live in doubt or fear
The could and might of Possibility that wields its knife
Would be too hard to bear without God’s promises to cheer

How could we face tomorrow and the sorrow that yet waits
Without the Hope of He who was, is and ever will be
The faithfulness of God who swings wide morning’s gleaming gates
Will not leave or forsake we who need Him so desperately

…then we press on, though reason leaves our answers full of holes
In the how-why of He whose thoughts and ways test mortal trust
Still, we know He who gave His only Son to save our souls
Will never leave us comfortless in come what may and must

…and we are filled with humble, hopeful, joyful gratitude
Although we cannot see the way, His mercies never cease
Where we would fall prey to despair our courage is renewed
As surrender’s great mystery bestows strength, hope and peace

Yes, you know how it is …the highs and lows, high-fives and blows
Unfurls a roller-coaster ride of both pleasure and pain
Where heart-broken farewells are hinged to handshakes and hellos
To fill us with hope’s thankfulness that words cannot explain

Sacred Thread

PAD Challenge day 19: For today’s prompt, take the phrase “(blank) Thread;” replace the blank with a word or phrase; make the new phrase the title of your poem; and then, write your poem.

Since I seem to be drawn to Alison Krauss's music these days, how about two more more?

Ain’t it fine, love?
Aint it lovely?
Aint it somethin’ to behol’
We don’t need to
Fret or worry
God is always in control

When the thread
Of life-love-laughter
Gets all tangled in our sigh
Someone is still
Looking after
All the knots we can’t untie

Aint it precious,
Aint it perfect
We of mortal dust-to-dust
Never need to
Fret or worry
If our hearts can learn to trust

Trust Him with
What-if and maybe
Trust Him with this thread of Death
That becomes
A sacred lifeline
When it frays with our last breath

Immaculate Thread

PAD Challenge day 19: For today’s prompt, take the phrase “(blank) Thread;” replace the blank with a word or phrase; make the new phrase the title of your poem; and then, write your poem.

The beauty of it helps Her brave
The force of Time’s persuasive wave
Drawing from arms, the girl and boy
That fuels Her heartbeat with joy

But still no matter what Change brings
It never severs Her heart-strings
No matter where Her children roam
These strings will keep them close to home

Heartstrings also keep truck-driving hubbies close;-)

Of Lions and Snakes

...playing catch-up!
I got so caught up in Monday's 'favorite things' prompt I neglected Tuesday!
For yesterday’s Two-for-Tuesday prompt:
  1. Write a love poem.
  2. Write an anti-love poem.

Love Poem

The body is a lion-cage
Where rage and passion scars
Its bars; who knew a flesh-blood stage
Could hold such holy roars

Or how across the room from me
You rouse, without a touch
The part of me no one can see
But you love, very much

..and where the cage, to other eyes
Seems quite common, I guess
Beneath the cloth of Bearing lies
Love's pacing lioness

Janet~

anti-love poem

there is no hope in hate
revenge cannot appeal
....the fangs of cruel word can cut
what a lifetime won't heal

the mouth can be fiend
when fueled by pure spite
where dust of skin cannot repel
The venom of hate's bite

be careful what you say
lest in the end you grieve
what forgiveness won't soothe away
the scars; those never leave

the god of self, it seems
is never satisfied
as it replaces love with lust
humility with pride

...it fills this skin-bone shell
with bitterest of fruit
if, where the hurt of harsh word fell
we let revenge take root

Blessed Bond

There is a bond beyond this earth
Woven through grief and care
It unites us in sacred worth
It is the bond of prayer

No mile or night its might can dim
No span its plan can still
God takes the words we lift to Him
And shapes them to his will

What hallowed ground are folded hands
What fellowship is there
Though sight alone misunderstands
It trusts the bond of prayer

…as far and wide its whispers bind
Believers, heart to heart
What peace and promises we find
Where the world has no part

Then, though this world seems dark and cold
We find sweet comfort where
Heartstrings of hope and faith enfold
Us in the bond prayer

Brothers and sisters, pray for us.
