Reason For My Headache

"Oh Lord, help me think of something that only takes one egg,"
I prayed knowing I didn't have a window of time to go and get some at the farm.
this after Victoria texted me from school to say the cookies are gone
that she took to the school bake sale. (we were gonna use the leftovers for her turn
to bring refreshments to her youth Bible Study tonight)
The oven was busy with food for a dinner I'm helping with tonight
but THEN this recipe popped into my mind and lo and behold we had on hand the ingredients!)!
Quick-baking and easy to prep! The filling that takes an egg is enough for a double-batch of batter!

Don't you just love-love those little BIG God-nods?!

PAD Challenge day 17: For today’s prompt, write a reason poem.

I hate to admit it
…it’s lack of coffee
So much to do
I forgot second cup
I hate to admit it
Might be a habit
I would be wise
To just give up!

Plus, lunch looked a little like this today...
scraping out nearly-empty containers I discovered in my fridge.

...but it's been fun kitchen day!
Because of other plans for My Wednesday Tot she wasn't here today.
Coincidence? I think not. :)
Reminds us God really is in the details too!

...and now, clean-up!
(after I put the coffee on!)😋

A Tribute to Coffee...

Coffee can capture circular art wherever you set it!

Sometimes when I'm grinding coffee beans in the evening
to set the coffee-maker for the morrow
I almost wish it was morning...it smells SO good!

Today while kiddos napped I celebrated the last day of February
with a sunny back-porch siesta/snooze!

I never can articulate
The secret of your brew
But nothing else exhilarates
My inner Me like you

Ah, you are morning’s perfect host
High noon’s hip-hip-hooray
With you I raise a twilight-toast
To salute end of day

A fit-for-all-occasions
Celebration in a cup
And when I go to bed at night
I can’t wait to wake up

Dessert Coffee; 1 strong, black fresh-brewed coffee
1 tbsp heavy cream
1 tbsp maple syrup (or more if you prefer sweeter)

A tweaked re-run just for fun:) In Praise of Perfection In a Can...

For today’s prompt, write a praise poem.

He wakes me up each morning
Much to my delight
He knows exactly what I need
And how to do it right
I stay a little sleepy
Until I feel his touch
His warmth flows into, through me
I love him oh, so much

Maxwell, you’re a darling
I keep you in a can
And can't wait until morning
To kiss your face of tan
Your deep and robust passion
  Ignites me to the core
And oh, I know I cannot
Live without you anymore

Love, you don’t have to worry
No one can take your place
I sip you and inhale you
With a smile upon my face
Maxwell, you’re a darling
I love your coat of blue
And in the early morning
Nobody else will do

Maxwell, you’re a keeper
Perfection in a can
I wonder what would happen
IF YOU WERE A MAN

A Long Overdue Thank-you;-)

PAD challenge 28: For today’s prompt, write a poem about a smell

Thank-you to the hands
That pluck the beans
That make their way
From there to here
To fill and thrill
Each early morn
With heaven-scent
Of coffee cheer

PAD Challenge day 26: write a water poem

Water is wonderful
just as it is
But brew it through Brazilian beans
and you get
Bliss

Colombian

PAD challenge Day 19: make a color the title of your poem.

If I had to choose
only one hue from life’s color spectrum
it would have to be you
…You who rouses me from sleep
in aromatic pleasantries
Let others steep virtuous green teas
I prefer you; Platonist teaser
of Colombian romance
filling my taste-buds
with morning’s first dance
I close my eyes now
…ah yes, supple and slow
you unleash the miracle
of Colombian glow
not in the east
or past hills to the south
but swallow
after swallow
in my mouth

Making Love...with nothing but the touching...

  • Write a love poem. Romantic or more general types of love. Or…
  • Write an anti-love poem. Some folks just don’t like love poems of any type, so have at it.

At the kitchen table
Scattered with newspaper
And homework
Or breakfast remains
Where the sun pools
Gold in summer
Or daylight falls
Gray in November
Across the chatter
Of little ones
Above life’s spilled milk
Between ‘don’t talk with your mouth full’
And ‘stay sitting until you are finished’
We have made love
With nothing
But the touching
Of eyes

Colombian Comrade

Glance around you and pick something that is lifeless (husbands DON’T count) and personify it. Breathe life into it and make it the hero of your poem this week!

Can there be too much of you, darling?
I suppose only time can tell
You’ve been with me for a long time, dear
And oh, you know me well

Full-bodied, faithful companion
You never disappoint
Rousing easily life’s passion in me
My slumb’ring senses you anoint

Ravishing Colombian lover
Bold, brawny fruit of desire
Rushing through me like an ebony sea
Keening a beautiful fire

While all of life’s vexing indictments
Its pestering perplexities
Dissolve in your glow like the sun-drenched snow
And other minorities

Can there be too much of you, darling?
Life would be cold without you
So I’ll take my chances for your kiss enhances
Everything else I must do

Darling, you know how to please me
Your pleasure I cannot decline
Good morning kiss of Colombian bliss
Coffee, dearest coffee of mine

My Columbian Love

I cannot resist you
As I embrace your warmth
Craving your brawny essence
Darling, there is none like you
Weak imitations make me laugh
As I inhale your richness
Knowing your bliss
Will not disappoint me
My lips seek your fullness
Slowly, purposefully
I draw you in and hold
Your perfection on my tongue
Before your robust passion
 Satisfies me
Completely
Ah Maxwell, you and I
Make beautiful music together

Every so often I gain a new appreciation for the blessing of

Poetic Bloomings Prompt: Burning Passion

Of Mystery and Mornings...

The quiet leans in closely
As the early light expands
And navy yields to the caress
Of morning’s gentle hands

Angels in silken garments
Brush the line twixt dark and day
With effervescent whispers
They ease deeper shades away

Mystery treads the stillness
Of the unknown like a bloom
Starting to press the barriers
Of its darkened waiting room

We step onto the shoreline
Of a mighty river’s flow
As He who holds this day’s design
And gives the sun its glow…

…assures us in the solitude
Of grace that will not flea
And He knows every petal
That drifts into Time’s vast sea

The quiet leans in closely
As this hushed and sacred hour
Nudges from the bud unfolding
A new and perfect flower

Wait on the Lord and keep His way
And He shall exalt thee to inherit the land.
When the wicked are cut off thou shalt see it. Ps. 37:34

Morning Miracles Haiku

Liquid miracle
Colombian pleasure melts
Early morning fog

 ***

Satin edges trim
Unyielding shrouds of darkness
Revealing its breadth

***

Keen ambivalence
Tunes emerging awareness
Slumber dissipates

Not Found in Coffee-shops

To sit quietly,
not in noisy coffee-shops
but on nature’s window-ledge
And then, drink deeply of thought
Pleasures me much
For as I sit quietly
Sipping my coffee, black
On the sill of a new day’s edge
Drinking deeply of thought
I feel your touch

I'm Sorry, Dear Sir

Poetic Aside Prompt: An Apology or Un-apology.

I’m sorry, dearest sir
but you seem quite unaware
of the dangerous stir
in the atmosphere
and you seem oblivious
to my sudden attraction
Kind sir, may I offer
an explanation?

My dear sir, I’m sorry
but it is not your hair
though it is quite attractive, I agree
and the thing that is causing my open-mouth stare
is not your fine physicality
Your eyes are a striking and breath-taking blue
and I'll admit your face is quite handsome too
Your jeans, I am sure are a quality brand
but today I am drawn to that thing in your hand
and the scent that startled me as you strode by
rousing a wild, dangerous insanity
so unless you care to finish what you have begun
I suggest you hang on to your coffee and run!
