Thou God, Of Earth and Heaven

Whether at the funeral of a Prince,
whether almost a century old
or a baby,
or somewhere between,
the same words of comfort are offered,
drawn from ageless, timeless, changeless Word of God,
Father of all

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
John 11:25

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren,
concerning those who have fallen [b]asleep,
lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so God will bring with Him those who [c]sleep in Jesus.
1 Thess.4:13-14

Thou God of earth and heaven
Thy Perfect Love, nail-scarred
Faith’s Dying-Breath confession
Thou dost not disregard

Thou Godhead Everlasting
Divine Supremacy
No Last-Post Bugle blasting
Thy final eulogy

Thou God, changeless and gracious
Author of life and light
Each one of us is precious
And equal in Thy sight

Where none can earn the merit
Of the gift of Your grace
Thou, Beholder of spirit
Rather than breed or face

Thou God of earth and heaven
Thou Saviour of the soul
Thou God, of sins forgiven
And faith that makes us whole

Thou, Father of the orphan
Thou, Comforter and Friend
Thou God of earth and Heaven
Thy Kingdom hath no end

Then, When We Sleep to Wake...

Then, when we sleep to wake and when we wake never to sleep
When the Unknown is gone and no more tears remain to weep
Then we shall understand that which we sought to know before
As Time yields to the Absolute of God’s forevermore

Then, when Hope is exchanged for Home and Home is hope fulfilled
When we have heard that final ‘Come’ as Death’s dark sea is stilled
Then, when the Mystery of soul and spirit are revealed
How worth it all is every grief as every grief is healed

Then, when at last faith becomes sight, sight absolves mortal strife
As death becomes a stepping-stone to everlasting life
And Time’s defenseless shadow fades into Love’s dauntless deep
Then, when we sleep to wake and when we wake never to sleep

Because, at the end of it all Reality abides; the sole/soul reason for conception, birth, death to life. We should live every day and seek to remember to never forget...Time is perishable and then we must all put on the Imperishable...

Evening Epitaph

Here lie the gathered moments of her day
A rendering to every man the same
Of hours, burnished gold or sullen gray
Resting within past’s immortal acclaim

Here the deceased forevermore will rest
No horse-drawn procession draws her along
But crimson dirge upon the molten west
Consoles the bystander in vesper-song

Here lies mercy’s allotment of the dawn
Asleep within Time’s chimeral embrace
While trembling hope spurs us to journey on
To our repose; faith’s final resting place

Last night, Matthew tells me (as he leans on my chair reading the epitaph) he had a dream that he wishes he could paint; he and I popped out of the water in the Arctic where we saw the most amazing sunset, glaciers and strange, beautiful birds!

Christmas Forever and Ever, Amen

They can ban Him from the shopping malls
From politics and schools
They can clamor for free speech
Saying He goes against its rules
While they shout false acclamations
In their efforts to destroy
I simply want to tell them
They can never steal our Joy

They can say it’s just a story
‘Bout an ordinary man
Jesus didn’t come from glory
To fulfill salvation’s plan
And while they pile, compile their lies
Above earth’s highest slope
I simply need to tell them
They can never steal our Hope

I AM is not some common thing
Mortal can over-throw
He cannot be abolished
Just because we say it’s so
I AM abides; His power reigns
Beneath, around, above
And in spite of their vilest claims
They cannot steal His Love

They can’t take Christ from Christmas
Laws, ramparts won’t keep Him out
They cannot banish Jesus Christ
Though they may scream and shout
I AM prevails; no law detains
What His Spirit imparts
Joy, Hope and Love ever remains
In true believers hearts

...for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
Forever and ever,
Amen

Matthew 6:13

I was at a lovely Christmas Tea this morning and someone mentioned that a local LARGE shopping mall declined to display the Nativity Scene. After a public out-cry from believer's and the fear of losing business, the Nativity Scene is in place:)
I'm so glad that whether it is there or not, They can never stop Christmas! Happy Holiday will pass, as all things temporal...but NEVER Christmas. Hallelujah!

The out-cry for preservation is not for our satisfaction
We believe, and therefore are compelled to take action
Not with violence, but with love and prayer
for our children, and their children
because we care...

Love

It’s not perfect
Darling, yes, I know
We could point out endless flaws…
…and we have, a time or two
I don’t know what 'they' call it
Those experts with degrees
But we call it love
Now, don’t we?

It’s not very fancy
And it sure isn’t cool
But we are in it for the long run
Love can be so cruel
If we relinquish tenderness
Appeasing selfish words
But we still call it love, dear
Even when it hurts

Seems these days nobody knows
Its meaning or its worth
Trading it like any other
Commodity of earth
Darling, love’s a beauty
But it takes another form
Beyond the call of duty
It’s a shoulder in life’s storm

…and when the war of words has stilled
And all that yet remains
Is a pair of stubborn wills
And self-inflicted pain
Love reaches to the other
There is nothing left to prove…
But to forgive and love forever
Oh darling…this is love

Golden Thread

Seems like there’s a piece of you
In every little thing I do
Like a tender golden thread
Woven where my footprints tread
In the memory of your sigh
In the twinkle of your eye
In the aqua-velva blue
I can sense a piece of you….

I can hear the soft wind moan
But I do not feel alone
As I turn to look, instead
For a wisp of golden thread
Where forgotten shadows lie
Lingering whispers in the sky
Through its dim and misty hue
I can sense a piece of you

Like a pleasant melody
Drifting on an endless sea
I can hear our favorite tune
Hummed by waves and stars and moon
How I love the joy they shed
Like a tender, golden thread
We are never far apart
Golden thread within my heart
