Signs of the Times (or signs of September)

Turning a blind eye to signs does not alter the truth!

Gen.9:13-17
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me
and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
I have set my rainbow in the clouds,
and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.
Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it
and remember the everlasting covenant between God
and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established
between me and all life on the earth.”

2 Tim.3:1-5
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive,
disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  without love,
unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,
treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
having a form of godliness but denying its power.
Have nothing to do with such people.

When we see signs it alerts us to whatever the sign is drawing our attention to!
From streets to businesses to for sale signs to events etc.
From flashy billboards to modest handmade creations!
But one thing is imperative for a 'successful' sign.
It must be easy to read!

Daybreak's sign is always easy to see...the fading dark!

...and for better or worse signs of summer fading are becoming more evident

Signs of September start to unsettle August’s veneer
An air of fond farewell drapes summer’s beaming belvedere
In hues of misty mint and blues begins the tug of war
That draws us to conclusions we can no longer ignore

Signs of August’s slipping foothold bids us to slow our feet
And linger in the plum and gold aura of Bittersweet
Awareness of what all too swift and surely will become
An echo-dazzled wonderland of summer’s soldered sum

While gardens groan with goodness, while man and earth sheds fair youth
Where ignorance and purposed blindness cannot alter truth
Where all around us signs of seasons spin and sweep and surge
A vexing kind of vortex as the past and future merge

Signs of September sparkle in the eye of Father Time
It kindles as it swindles, a nostalgic pantomime
Of June, July and August’s darling days that soon depart
Like a harvest of diamonds tucked somewhere deep in the heart

The signs of the times are blaring!
Are we paying attention?

Matthew 24 teaches us the signs to watch for as the day of
the return of Christ draws near

Matthew 24:9-13
Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death,
and you will be hated by all nations because of me.
At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,
and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world
as a testimony to all nations,
and then the end will come.

Matt.24:42-44
Watch therefore, for you do not know what [g]hour your Lord is coming.
But know this, that if the master of the house had known what [h]hour the thief would come,
he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
 Therefore you also be ready,
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Beware and Be Aware

Col.2:8-10

Beware lest anyone [b]cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit,
according to the tradition of men,
according to the basic principles of the world,
and not according to Christ.
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [c]bodily;
and you are complete in Him,
who is the head of all [d]principality and power.

Matt.7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Beware, and be aware of where pitfalls and snares bribe and beguile
The predator of pride-bent man can seduce hell-ward with a smile
While hailing those who embrace slogans that glorify man, not He
Of whom Paul praised with ‘I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me’

Beware, and be aware where we, without the full armour of God
Are not prepared sufficiently to face the fine art of a fraud
Or go forth into battle boasting nothing but self-confidence
In creature, not Creator, in death rather than deliverance

Beware, and be aware of those who trust in man rather than God
Who prefer over Wisdom’s gold, the pomp and show people applaud
Beware of those who think that prayer is nothing but vain whispers hurled
Because they are still unaware of power greater than this world

Beware, and be aware of signs that point toward the Lord’s return
Watch therefore and be ready in spite of the Light that scorner’s spurn
And though, because of wickedness the love of many will grow cold
Beware and be aware, prepare, watch and be ready to Behold

Gotta Get to The Wedding On Time!!!

Jim just called to tell me he figured something out;
there’s not enough time in a day or  hours before lunch…
He’s trying to get home in time for a wedding at one!
We definitely want to be ready for this wedding on time BUT if we're late there will be grace
...not so in that Great and Final Marriage Banquet.
Did you RSVP yet?
"Behold, now is the time of favor; now is the day of salvation!"
2 Cor.6:2

But, if we wait
‘til our work is done
It will be too late
The wedding starts at one

Ah, nobody here
Knows the day or the hour
When the Bridegroom appears
In glory and power

Today is for all
Whether rich or poor
To make our call
To His invitation sure

Say, what would we do
If this was the day
When our answer came due
Oh, what would we say?

Because if we wait
Til our work is done
It will be too late
The wedding starts at one!

Revelation 19:6-9 (ESV)

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude,
like the roar of many waters
and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
    the Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and exult
    and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
    and his Bride has made herself ready;
it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
And the angel said[a] to me,
“Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”
And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

Advent Song

Upon the air an Imminence of celebration wings
Come one all as we prepare for heaven’s King of kings
The advent of a Savior from the curse of Adam’s race
Where hearts regain love’s favor through the power of God’s grace

Beyond the ever-winnowing rudiment we call Time
The Hope of Man is founded and grounded in The Sublime
Come, join the noise of joy we raise to He who hears our cry
And lent to earth His heaven-boy, God’s love to satisfy

Surely this love that saves us is a universal song
For God so rich in mercy gave us Jesus, His own Son
Come, no one is exempt from Hope beyond death’s cold, dark grave
But whosoever will believe in Jesus He will save

Upon the air an Imminence of Holy Advent hails
For Christ the Lord, Emmanuel, for Love that never fails
Prepare the Way for He who comes, not to be born again

He Will Come Again...

The truth abides; we do not hope in vain
One thing remains in Love’s eternal plan
In clouds of glory; Heaven’s Son of Man
Lift up those weary feet; do not despair
Though scoffers scoff and doubting doubters jeer
We do not labor for man’s glory here
And every knee will bow low to the sod
And every tongue confess that He IS God

God tells us this is how the end will be
Few will believe; living in vanity
But what He promised surely will be so
This is the day of grace; do not delay
For just as He ascended He will come
To take the wretched, ransomed sinner home
There is no second chance on Judgment Day
Look up; for lo, deliverance is here
And soon the Son of Man will re-appear

The Shepherd knows His sheep; the Groom His Bride
But grace and mercy plead on our behalf
He died so we may live; the careless laugh
Love pours more Time into this vapor-side
Time trembles on an ephemeral string
Eternity is such an awesome thing
We cannot comprehend denial’s cost
Dare we the blood-shed love of Jesus spurn?
As He has gone away He will return

Happy Ascension Day to all!

May we live with this in mind; He is coming soon!
